| BRC GLOBAL FOOD STANDARD (ISSUE 5) This standard has been adopted worldwide by food purchasers and suppliers as one of the most important marks of quality, and is now regarded as the benchmark for best practice in the food industry. In January of 2008, the BRC released its latest version of the standard, Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue 5). The updated standard has increased emphasis on Management Commitment and the implementation of the twelve steps of HACCP. It also includes expanded requirements in areas such as Chemical and Physical Contamination Control and Handling Requirements for Allergens. Certification against the updated standard began on 1st July 2008. Through a mutual recognition agreement with our Irish associate, Management Systems Certification Ltd., ACC can offer certification to BRC Global Food Standard (Issue 5). Management Systems Certification Ltd. has been approved by the British Retail Consortium to offer certification to the BRC Global Food Standard (Issue 5).
